i see lights sometimes, just in the night sky, and it makes me think about what we don't know. every once in a while, i wonder if our looking is just too narrow. we build our telescopes, our ideas of what a signal should sound like, and it all feels so focused. but how does it make sense that our way of searching is the only way of searching in the universe. the universe holds so much space, so many places for life to begin that we might never find. maybe what we consider empty isn't empty at all, just a different kind of full. maybe there are intelligences, integrated and living amongst us, just in a way we haven't learned to see yet. we’re taught to look up, but what if they’re already here, just wearing a different face. how does it make sense that we're the only intelligent life in the universe.
