that laugh, it just burst out, a pure, ragged sound i didn’t even know was waiting there, the kind that scrapes past the ribs and pulls a full-lung breath from somewhere deep, not the polite kind i perfected years ago but a messy, tearing-open laugh that tasted of salt on my tongue and the sudden, sharp spray against my cheeks, like my whole system forgot it was supposed to hold back, forgot the old scripts, and just ran headlong into the shock of it all, that full-body jolt, that absolute knowing that this specific moment, this sun, this roar of the ocean, this dog, this IS it, the thing i sold everything for, the thing i fought to become, unrecognizable and finally REAL, and for a flash, a fierce, glorious flash, there's nothing else, just the wild, open current carrying me along and I'm not trying to paddle back.
