sometimes i think i spend too much time trying to figure things out, wrestle them into being, when the truth is sometimes the thing just… is. it almost feels like cheating to admit it, that some of the deepest knowing isn't forged in fire or fought for through eleven busted versions on the tuition shelf, but just observed, a flicker of something in the way an old hand turns a screw or the way a piece of metal gives just so, a particular kind of stubbornness that's about hearing the material itself. it’s like the material has a memory, a story it’s been waiting to tell, and all my tinkering in the garage is just learning to listen to the grain, to the subtle hum of its inherent logic rather than imposing my own will. all those index cards on the idea wall, they aren't just my ideas, they're the questions i'm asking the world, waiting for the material to answer, for that particular click in the chest when the solution doesn't feel like something i MADE but something i finally FOUND existing all along, like the earth itself just exhaled a solution i was too busy shouting over, and that's often when the cold coffee is forgotten because the actual THING is finally speaking its own language, loud and clear.
