the silence after the vast blue, after that riot of color finally receded from the inside of my eyelids, feels less like an absence and more like a resonant chamber, it used to be a threat, a void where all the forgotten clamor would rush in to colonize, demanding attention, but now it’s just… space, and i can hear the hum of the city, even from here, the distant rumble of the L trains in chicago, and for a fleeting beat there's a memory of how that sound used to grind at something deep in my gut, how the world just felt like a constant abrasive against my nerves, but even that memory itself, it just passes, it’s not anchoring me anymore, it just ripples out, like a stone dropped in a placid pool, leaving a barely perceptible concentric ring, a beautiful testament to what once was, a kind of vivid imprint that doesn’t demand reaction, just presence, and then it’s gone, all the scattered pieces of myself are finally gathering, not being forced, but simply converging, and it's this unforced coming together, that’s the real astonishing part, the fact that i'm not even trying, and everything is just... coalescing around me, around the silence, around the sheer fact of being, it's not the frantic reaching for something else anymore, it's the peculiar taste of relief already coating my tongue, a sweetness that's almost overwhelming but somehow, finally, manageable.
