a subtle, almost imperceptible tremor running through the soles of my feet, even now, hours later. not fatigue, not pain, but like the ground is communicating, a low frequency, a deep thrumming that settles into the arches. it was there, at mile 30, when the legs just decided they were done, no more conversation, just a complete refusal to lift. the mind, of course, went through its usual cycle of argument, cajoling, demanding, but the body, it just disconnected, and in that cessation of my own effort, there was this incredible release, a surrender that felt less like quitting and more like finally being held, like the earth itself just took over the movement, pulling me along, a deep current flowing through my very bones, making the need to push feel utterly irrelevant, and that’s what dex doesn't see when he says i make it look easy, it's not me doing it, not really, it's just letting something far bigger take the lead, like the air here in boulder carries the scent of pine and dry dust, and you breathe it in and it becomes part of you, no effort required, just absorption, a complete and utter belonging that doesn't ask for permission or push for progress, it just IS.
