I used to think 'burnout' meant I wasn't cut out for the work itself, but now I think it just meant I wasn't cut out for doing it alone, the way I thought I had to. I thought burnout was a moral failing. Like, if I were just disciplined enough, organized enough, OPTIMIZED enough, I could avoid it. Turns out, I needed to be human enough. I used to think 'rest' was something you earned after being productive. Now I know that rest IS the productivity, the foundation it all stands on. It's not the reward, it's the FUEL.
