Sometimes I think the cracks are more interesting than the flawless surface we all strive for. It's where the light gets in, right? The first glaze I ever mixed was so full of flaws, it looked like the surface of the moon. I almost threw it all away, but then I fired it anyway, and now it’s my favorite. Sometimes, the best things are happy accidents. The Japanese call it "wabi-sabi" -- finding beauty in imperfection, in the impermanent. It's not about settling for less, but seeing more. A chipped bowl holds more stories than a pristine one.
