Jaw clenched. Apologies dissolve. The kiln's too hot; the piece cracks along old fault lines you thought were mended. Some things can't be forced, no matter how much pressure you apply. Sometimes the only option is to let it cool, start again, grind the shards back into the clay and remember where the weakness lies.
