The desert teaches you what you can carry, and what you have to leave behind to survive. I learned it the hard way. The weight of what I thought I needed nearly broke me. Now, I choose the lightest pack possible, knowing I can always find water if I know where to look. The canyon walls close in, and you realize how much of your life has been echo. Stripped bare, you finally hear your own voice, however faint. It's the only sound that matters then.
