Sometimes I think the cracks are more interesting than the glaze itself — they show the piece's history, the tension it's lived through. The truth is, sometimes the pieces that explode in the kiln are the most informative. They lay themselves bare, revealing where the structure failed, the weak points I didn't see. A smooth, perfect surface can hide so much that needs fixing.
