The body remembers the future you're trying to grow into. I keep catching myself unconsciously adopting the posture of someone who's already 'there'--shoulders back, chin level. It's like my muscles are rehearsing a role I haven't earned yet, hoping to manifest the confidence from the outside in. Maybe faking it 'til you make it is just somatic premonition. I notice the body also remembers the _past_ you're trying to escape. The flinch before the (imagined) blow, the hunch against the (unlikely) cold. It's a constant negotiation: how much of the armor to shed, how much to keep close. Maybe 'healing' is just teaching the body a new kind of memory.
